CIS Grants

  • IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) is pleased to offer three types of Travel grants to the IEEE CIS members who are interested to present their papers in-person at Fuzz-IEEE 2023:

              • IEEE CIS Conference Travel Grant for Students: This program offers a limited number of grants to assist IEEE-CIS Student Members to present papers at IEEE CIS conferences.

              • IEEE CIS Conference Travel Grant for Researchers from Developing Countries: This program offers a limited number of travel grants to assist IEEE-CIS Members of any grade higher than Student to present papers at IEEE CIS conferences.

            • IEEE CIS "Industry Early Career" Travel Grant: This program offers a limited number of travel grants to assist IEEE-CIS Members working in industry, who are within 2 years after their graduation, to present papers at IEEE CIS conferences.

The grant will be in the form of digital reimbursement of a fixed amount after the in-person participation in the conference as a registered attendee. The approved amount is typically USD 500 for intra-continental (within Asia) participants, and USD 1000 for inter-continental (outside Asia) participants.

For instructions, required documents and the application submission link for the above travel grants, please visit IEEE CIS Conference Participation and Travel Grants page: https://cis.ieee.org/activities/membership-activities/travel-grants

Additionally, CIS is trialling a new scheme in 2023 to encourage additional students to participate in selected CIS conferences:

Participation grants for non-lead student authors / non-author students: The scheme is targeted towards research students who are either (a) a co-author of a paper but ineligible for student travel grant (as per the criteria on the above page), or (b) a non-author from a research group with registered paper at the conference.
The aim is to encourage additional participants, especially those in early phase of their research degree, to attend the conference and interact with peers and experts. A small number of grants will be approved under this scheme will cover the student early registration fee for the successful candidate. The grant will be in the form of digital reimbursement after the in-person participation in the conference as a registered attendee.

Requirements:

  • You must be an IEEE CIS member to apply for the grant.
  • Submit the application through the same link as used for the travel grants, given on https://cis.ieee.org/activities/membership-activities/travel-grants
  • Attach a short cover letter, clearly indicating that you are applying as a non-lead author / non-author student.
  • Attach a supporting letter from your supervisor (preferably the senior author on the paper against which the application is made).

For any queries regarding the grants, please contact the CIS travel grants subcommittee chair Dr. Hemant Singh (h.singh@adfa.edu.au).

The applications can be submitted after the final paper notifications have been sent, up to the end of 08 June 2023 (AoE). The outcomes will be communicated approximately by 21 June.
